Dallas Lighthouse Awarded Army Contract

We are proud to announce that after 6 months of intense negotiations, the Dallas Lighthouse was awarded an Army contract to produce the new Fabric Entrenching Tool Carrier. Production commenced in late September, and this contract has enabled the creation of an additional 25 in our manufacturing facility.

In order to accommodate this new product category we completely renovated the first floor of the Administration Building. And, after investing in state-of-the-art sewing and cutting equipment, we were able to create a new sewing center. We’re truly excited about this chance to expand into a new area of manufacturing; and, hopefully, this venture will lead to other opportunities for future growth.

We held an open house in September to not only show off our new facility, but also to demonstrate that blind Americans – who are proud to support our men and women in uniform – are both eager and capable of manufacturing a quality product.

The Dallas Lighthouse Industrial Division currently employs over 100 full time people, of which 81% of our Direct Labor is blind or severely visually impaired. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer supplying products for commercial and government consumption.
